☕ Your Perfect Morning Cup Workshop

☕ Your Perfect Morning Cup Workshop

$120 Per Person / Ages 18 and up

Because the mug you drink from matters.

You know that feeling when you reach past every other cup in the cabinet for the one? The one that fits your hand just right, holds exactly the right amount, and makes the whole morning ritual feel a little more intentional? In this 2.5-hour workshop, you're going to make that mug.

We've done the throwing for you — you'll arrive to a freshly made mug body, ready to be pushed, pulled, carved, painted, and personalized into something that's unmistakably yours. This class is all about the fun part: making it look and feel exactly the way you want it to.

Here's what we'll dig into:

Shaping & Altering Your Form

  • Pulling and attaching handles — comfort, proportion, and a little personality
  • Faceting for those satisfying flat planes and angular edges
  • Darting to give your cup a more tailored, sculptural silhouette
  • Paddling to compress, shape, and add subtle surface interest
  • Texturing with stamps, found objects, and your own two hands

Surface Decoration with Colored Slip

  • Slip trailing — the satisfying squiggle-and-dot technique that looks incredibly hard but isn't
  • Sgraffito — paint it on, then carve through to reveal the clay underneath
  • Sanggam/Mishima — inlay color into incised lines for crisp, graphic results
  • Slip & underglaze transfers — yes, you can put a drawing on a mug. We'll show you how.

This is a technique-rich class, and our instructors will walk you through each method so you can find what clicks for you. No two mugs will look alike — that's kind of the whole point.

Who's it for? Adults (18+) only. Some prior clay experience is helpful but not required — if you've touched clay before and want to go deeper on decoration and form, this class is your move. If you're a total newcomer who's feeling ambitious, you'll be in good hands.

What's included: Your pre-thrown mug form, all tools, slips, underglazes, and materials. Firing and glazing are included — your finished piece will be ready for pickup within 4–6 weeks.

What to wear: Close toed shoes and something you'd be okay staining. Colored slip has the same agenda as pizza sauce around a white shirt.
